ProcrastiTermination- Summary

ProcrastiTermination is a website that allows it's users to personally block websites that they might find distracting to their working environment. It is user friendly and will use multimedia tutorials to guide them throughout the website and teach them all of it's features. One of the unique effects of this website is the no quitting zone. This means that once you set the timer to block the website there is no way out of it. Even if you quit out of the website or restart your computer the block time will remain for however long you set it to. This allows the users to literally be unable to access the websites they have listed.

Throughout this 8 week process of blogging about the website I am confident that it could really become a huge
success. I have spoken to numerous people who love the idea and said that if it existed today in the form I have described they would be avid users. Not only will it improve your work ethic but it will eliminate so much time you use to procrastinate and cut your time in the library in half.
If I was able to seek the right people to make this website come to life I would. I think it would be a huge asset to the studying world and help all procrastinators out there.

Here are some of the blogs I posted comments to:

ProcrastiTermination-Network Sharing

ProcrastiTermination is a full service website that allows it's users to block certain websites at their own disposal. In addition, it allows them to choose how much time in which the website will be blocked. Network sharing would be a positive attribute to this website.
Network sharing allows family and friends and colleagues to exchange files over the web. This is helpful because regardless of the blocking technology of the website you would still be able to exchange information needed to complete your work.
Although network sharing isn't a crucial part of the procrastitermination website it is still helpful and enhances the overall effect. I am confident that procrastitermination will flourish and ultimately become a leading website of it's time.

Tech Crunch!

Back in 2005 a man named Michael Arrington launched a blog from his home in Atherton, CA. His initial goal was to write about people and companies making break-through effects on the web. However, the website grew quickly and was soon drawing several million hits every month. That next year in 2006 TechCrunch received it's big break. It launched the story of google's attainment of youtube, ultimately landing them a spot on the cover of the Wall Street Journal.
The initial goal of the website soon shifted from a website that provided opinion on new media to a complete news outlet. This famed success was definitely unexpected. The blog has now grown into a full fledged business. Today is employees over 40 people and has even been named one of the most influential news brands in the tech industry.
Tech crunch is one of the leading tech websites out there right now. If your looking for information on a gadget or social media website this is the place to go. If you would like to visit the website here's the link: http://techcrunch.com/

ProcrastiTermination-Multitasking

ProcrastiTermination is a website with lots of components. It includes videos, photos, ads, additional links. In order for this website to function fast and easy it will use a multi-tasking method. This method allows you to run different programs at the same time.
This website constantly allows you to block out websites at any given time for however long you want. In addition there will be tutorials and ads all on the same web page therefore it will be important that there is a multitasking function to keep it up and running.
ProcrastiTermination will specifically use cooperative multi-tasking that allows programs to run the CPU for as long as needed. This will be useful for the ProcrastiTermination website because we anticipate to get a lot of users who will constantly be revisiting the site. I look forward to watching its progress take off!

ProcrastiTermination- Lossy Compressions

ProcrastiTermination is a full service website that allows you to block certain websites when you're trying to work or study.  This website includes multimedia tutorials and image advertising that would be enhanced with the use of "lossy compressions".
Lossy compression allows you to upload a picture with less information (pixilation) so that the picture comes out clearer.  In addition, it allows you to compress multimedia data.  This would be a useful attribute to the ProcrastiTermination website in that it would allow you to view more with higher quality.
This will ultimately benefit the website because the customers and avid users would view higher quality videos and pictures then most other websites.  This eye-catching attribute will hopefully lure users in, making my website and blog even more appealing.

RFID Chip: ProcrastiTermination

Since ProcrastiTermination is a website and there isn't any physical components an RFID chip would not really fit into the website. However, if the website grew and reached a certain amount of users we would take into consideration expanding ProcrastiTermination from just a web browser to a phone application.
If we were to expand to a phone application the RFID chip would come in handy. We would be able to place the chip into phones and correlate a feed from the website to the phone application. This would ensure that not only when your doing your work are distractions on your laptop terminated but distractions on your cell phone as well. This would allow you to have no access to distracting websites at all. Of course this would be for the most extreme procrastinators.
As you can see, the RFID chip is not a necessity to ProcrastiTermination. However, if a cell phone app were to be launched this definitely would be an extremely useful tool.

Streaming Videos- ProcrastiTermination

Streaming videos would be a helpful marketing and advertising strategy for ProcrastiTermination. It would allow users to watch a tutorial on how the website actually works. It would take them through the process of signing on and picking and choosing which websites they wanted to block and then how the timer works. The reason I would choose streaming videos verses progressive videos is because streaming videos allows a user to jump to a specific point in the video and only watch that one part. If a user has already watched the video all the way through once but has forgotten how to use a specific tool on the website, the streaming video would allow them to jump to that specific part.

In addition, it would allow advertisers to place ad's in the beginning of the video and expose users to their product. I think the use of streaming videos on the ProcrastiTermination website would really enhance its appeal to users nation-wide.

How can Excel help ProcrastiTermination?

Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet program that allows someone to enter numerical values or data into rows and/or columns of a spreadsheet. You can then use these numerical entries for calculations, graphs, and statistical analysis. For ProcrastiTermination, Excel would be useful in that it would allow us to observe how successful the website is.
For example, we would be able to monitor through online tracking how many visitors we get in any given day. In addition, we would be able to more specifically see first time visitors and people who are returning to the website. This would allow us to create a statistical data chart and evaluate whether or not people find the blocking website useful.
After organizing such information and assuming the website is successful, we would be able to approach companies with our Excel spread sheet in an effort to find advertising. Hopefully companies will look at our data and see an increasing amount of activity on the website and therefore place there trust and money and display their products. Excel is a very useful program for ProcrastiTermination and I look forward to using it in order to advance my website.

ProcrastiTermination

Have you ever tried to sit down on your computer and do your work without any distractions? Have you been successful? Most peoples answer would be no. You can access anything in a matter of seconds making the temptations of straying from work massive. I always said to myself what if there was a program that would allow me to control my temptations on the internet. That's where ProcrastiTermination stemmed from. It is a simple tool used to help students and procrastinators all over control there temptations and keep them focused on their work. ProcrastiTermination would work as follows. You log on to the website where there would be blank links where you would be able to type in specific websites that distract you. Then you would be able to pick the amount of time these specific websites would be blocked for and then you would press the enter button which would turn on the timer. You would still be able to access any websites that were not entered into the website. This blocker can absolutely not be turned off unless the timer runs out. If your interested in this website and think that it could be a good idea. Continue to read my blog!
